Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival is Seoul’s largest kids film festival that is aiming to find children whom are ready to lead the film industry and offer diverse genre of cinema.

Opening Film

Suha, 13 years old, is afraid of the dark since she lost her dad from an accident. When she gets to spend her summer vacation in the countryside of Suha-ri, she discovers a stone of the dark and accidently enters into the Astro garden. There she embarks on an adventure to help ‘Omu’, an Astro gardener confronting Pluto who tries to conquer the galaxy.

Closing Film

Eva is mother of a child diagnosed with a rare disease called Dent only found in 411 people around the world. In order to raise funds for research of Dent disease, Eva decides to challenge herself risking everything she has. And since then, families and kids around the world who have been suffering from Dent start to make contact with her, giving information and uniting to overcome the disease. Eva does not hesitate to visit them, even though they are on the other side of the planet.

GUKIFF Choice : Korea

Five feature films in competition and two non-competition films will be screened in GUKIFF Choice : Korea section. We can witness strong female characters and established mutual emotions with companion animals such as cat or dog.

GUKIFF Choice : World

GUKIFF Choice : World section at the Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival has always introduced diverse children and family movies every year from all over the world. This year, 18 films in competition and 2 non-competitive films will be screened.

GUKIFF Short: I-CiNE

This section presents films focusing on individual’s inner voice. It is meaningful for both kids and grown-ups alike to discover oneself and embrace the way they are.

GUKIFF Short: WOW-CiNE

WOW-CiNE introduces films that allow children to discover new insights with brilliant and creative imagination.

GUKIFF Short: HEART-CiNE

HEART-CiNE focuses on the changes that we experience as we relate with one another. This section describes stories with interaction between families, friends, lovers, neighbors, animals and nature we endlessly come in contact with.

GUKIFF Short: NEXT-CiNE

NEXT-CiNE delivers stories of the world that children are about to face. It deals with social issues that are based in the realities such as digital culture, environmental protection and industry of the future.

Eyes on Grown-ups

GUKIFF has set up a new section called ‘Eyes on Grown-ups’ for adults who are interested in the next generation. This year, four feature films and six short films will be screened that contains criticism and expectation toward grown-ups from the children’s point of view.

Kids Movie

GUKIFF Kids movies, directed by children under the age of 13, take on an original and creative point of view. Twelve films have been selected and will be officially screened during the festival out of 49 submitted films. GUKIFF Kids movies will be judged and awarded by the children jury.
